AV over IP is the transmission of audio, video and other signals over the Internet, LAN or WAN networks. In comparison to conventional analogue AV environments, AV over IP refers to the use of standard network equipment to switch and transmit video and audio signals. It takes a signal from an AV source, such as a media player or PC and transmits through an encoder. This data travels through the network and is converted back into a compatible AV signal when it reaches the decoder. Then received by the output device (speaker, video wall, display, projector etc.)
AV over IP differs from traditional AV by evolving the following: cost savings, scalability (easy to add more ports to increase capacity), break the distance restrictions, better ratio of inputs to outputs, power over Ethernet (POE). AV over IP solutions are perfect for larger installations with a high number of end points, such as universities, stadiums and airports, thanks to huge scalability, less cabling and significant potential cost savings.
RACVISION AV over IP device (encoder and decoder) will work together to provide complete end-to-end streaming system or it can work with the network switch to realize a one to many, many to one, and many to many solution. It can transmit the video, audio and RS232 signals together or separately over single LAN cable, supports to be power by POE from a POE network switch, it helps to make the installation more clean and professional.
